Tabatha Kellie-Marie Golat was raised in the interior of British Columbia on the Shuswap lake, where she graduated from SASS in 2003.
She is the middle child of five sisters, and a dedicated film enthusiast. At a young age she began ‘directing’ her sisters and friends in home movies and plays. At age thirteen she attended G.I.F.T.S -an intensive summer film program- where she discovered her passion for directing and producing.
Throughout high school Tabatha focused on film and television career preparation courses which allowed her to practice her film making skills and gain experience behind the camera. At age sixteen Tabatha and her best friend- editor Deborah Ostermann- formed Butterbee Productions (named for their love of butterflies and bees) during this time the two honed their skills by video taping and editing school plays, weddings, funerals, and a t.v program for the local television station.
At seventeen Tabatha moved to Mexico for part of the year before returning home to attend Victoria Motion Picture School, where she studied the intensive Film Production course, successfully graduating with a commercial, and two short directorial films under her belt by age eighteen.
After film school Tabatha worked on several low budget productions, until moving to Vancouver, British Columbia where she currently resides. After attempting to work on set, and frustrated with the lack of creativity alloted to the production assistant positions, she set out to write her own film ‘Life In 24fps.’
Life In 24fps is the first feature film production written, directed, produced and edited by Golat. The film was shot in Victoria, British Columbia where it screened in November.2008 for the first time- receiving widely praised enthusiasm.Tabatha is currently in development for her second feature film. |
